30 injured, millions lost as fire burns down Gikomba market

Several traders have lost their valuables following a fire incident in Gikomba Market.

The fire started from a section that deals with timber and clothes near Kamkunji area and spread fast gutting down structures. Police say they are yet to establish the cause of the fire and that efforts to do so are ongoing.

The fire was yet to be contained by 7am and officials were on the ground battling with it. No life has been involved but up to 30 people were reported to have been injured in the process.

They are being attended to at hospitals after being rescued by ambulances.
