5 Chinese arrested over security threat in Lavington to know fate today

Five Chinese nationals who were arrested for illegal possession of military gears are set to be charged in court today.

The state has decided to charge the five who include a woman with various offences as opposed to deporting them. The five will among others face charges of being in the country illegally and possessing military gear.

The suspects were arrested Friday with military combat gear, jackets, laptops, tear gas canisters, radio equipment, smoke detectors and identification card tugs.

Director of Immigration Services Alexander Muteshi said the suspects were hiding in the house. The raid was conducted following a tip off.

In a tweet on Friday, the immigration department said they have recovered items from the suspects believed to be a threat to National Security.

Among the Items recovered are; Radio Calls, Military uniforms, laptops metal detectors and many others.

"They will be detained for sometime as the investigating agencies do further investigations," the Immigration said.

The four men and a lady were paraded by the Immigration officials in their offices.The Immigration department said the five have been using hired vehicles for their unknow operations.

"...for now they are being detained at Nyayo house," they added.

On September 19, Immigration officers arrested 15 Chinese in a brothel in South C estate on grounds they have been engaging in prostitution.

The arrests elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans with some questioning how the lot got in the country in the first place
