72-Year-Old Briton Found Dead In Homa Bay

A 72-year-old Briton man was found dead in a home belonging to a woman he allegedly inherited at Kabuor Village in Rangwe constituency.

Himbury James Wilfred was found on Sunday morning lying in his bed by police officers who were alerted by villagers.

Police said the body of the deceased was naked on their matrimonial bed.

“The deceased defecated in his toilet and part of his sitting room before he died,” Homa Bay county police commander John Omusanga said.

The police boss said they found samples of unknown medical drugs near him.  “We’ve taken the samples for further examination to ascertain the cause of death. We also want to deduce if he died as a result of overdose or not,” he said.

Police said the incident happened when the Briton’s ‘wife’, Christine Achieng' was at a hospital in Kisumu county.

“The villagers alerted police when they realized that the home where the Briton and Achieng' lived was lonely and deserted,” Omusanga

said.

According to the deceased's passport found in the house, he was a former military officer in the British Army.

Omusanga announced that the police had liaised with ministry of foreign affairs over death of the foreigner.

The body of the deceased was taken to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital for postmortem.
