In the last few months, gospel singer Bahati seemed to have lost his focus musically, and his fans were not pleased by the kind of music that he had been releasing.
The last two songs from the Mathare-born artiste were all about love for women, as he tried to insert a few Godly lyrics to give the tracks a bit of a gospel touch, but his fans were not feeling it.
His last song Maria, featured Tanzanian actress, singer and fashionista Jokate Mwegelo, who is also Alikiba’s on and off ex, and fans felt like the message in the song was nothing to do with God or Christianity, as if he was leaning more on the secular side.
He then went to delete all his Instagram photos recently, which is not the first time he has pulled this stunt, and a couple of days later, he shared a post that offended some fans and fellow singers.
In the long post, he had a photo with Sauti Sol, Nyashinski, and Collo, secular artistes who dropped some of the best gospel songs this year, revealing that he expects them to be the Male Artistes Of The Year in the forthcoming Groove Awards 2016/2017.
He went on to apologize to Kenyans on behalf of all gospel artistes, saying that they have not been living in accordance to God’s word and that they had let their fans down and also confessing that the last song he feels he had dropped as a genuine gospel song was Barua.
WE ARE SORRY FOR LETTING DOWN THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST‼️ I personally feel & accept that as “BAHATI” I have not Represented Jesus & the Gospel Music as God expects. I know this might not be the best Platform to Speak about this but We all Know that The Public has Lost Trust in Us Gospel Musicians. Can we all agree that The Saints & the Streets don’t See God in Us anymore??? Yes we Can’t Ignore the fact that the Church is Complaining that’s why “NONE” of our Urban Gospel Songs can be used in Praise & Worship Services. I feel Guilty & Sorry for Contributing in Devaluing THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST- God Says if We don’t go back to What He called us to do GOD WILL AS WELL RAISE STONES to Praise Him & in a better way than we Can. YESSSS GOD CAN REPLACE US IN A MINUTE‼️ God has given us Supportive Media Personalities, DJs & Loyal fans but we have let you down. Our Focus has been making Hit songs, Scandals & Headlines and we are not Proud of Our Lord God & Savior JESUS CHRIST. Yes We Forgot the “CALLING” and Ministry… I personally feel my Last Gospel Song was “BARUA” in 2014 nanimechangia Sana kupaka Jina la Yesu Matope… LORD PLEASE FORGIVE ME 🙏 Some People might see this as Self Crucification but NO!!! God says clearly in 1ST JOHN 1:9…. “if we CONFESS our sins He is faithful & Just to forgive us and Cleanse Us from all Unrighteousness” … God speaks through People; and if the Public & the People of God are not happy::: THEN GOD IS NOT HAPPY‼️
Bien of Sauti Sol was not so pleased with Bahati insinuating that he would be fit for Groove awards nomination, asking him to make music because it comes from the heart, not because he wants to win awards.
Well, it looks like Bahati was keen on his fan’s criticism and decided to take it positively, he’s now gone back to making real gospel songs that he started out with, and of course his Instagram stunt was in preparation for a new song, just as we thought.
The Lover hitmaker has now dropped a song with veteran Kenyan gospel songstress Jemimah Thiong’o, dubbed Kwa Moyo Wangu. And from the comments, the fans are really pleased and love the song.
The song is truly different from what the young artiste has been singing in the past months, as he takes time to thank God for his blessings and favours, promising to worship Him forever. Bahati even throws in a few lines in English.
Now this is what we are talking about Bahati, and R Kay did justice to the beats. The music video is simple, shot outside on a vast landscape of land overlooking some beautiful hills.
With no further ado, check out the inspirational song from Bahati and Jemimah Thiong’o, Kwa Moyo Wangu.
