Striker Allan Wanga and defender Lloyd Wahome are the Tusker FC players of the month for August and September respectively. The league leaders announced this at the KBL offices, earlier this morning.

Wanga who rejoined the club in July, has been an integral part in the Tusker FC front line, starting four games in August and scoring three goals. Wahome has been an anchor at the center of the brewers' defence line, playing a key role in keeping away the opposition. The duo take home Sh50,000 each as a token of appreciation for their efforts.

The side sits top of the KPL table with four points clear of second placed Gor Mahia, with five games to play.

While awarding the two for their stellar performances in the past two months, Tusker Brand Manager Julius Karina lauded the team for its displays so far this season and urged them not to relent as the league enters its final stage.

“I would like to congratulate all of you for the great work you have put in not only for the last two months, but the whole of this season. I urge you to go all the way and bring home the title.”

Speaking during the ceremony, Tusker FC CEO Charles Obiny recognized that the awards will be a great motivation factor as the side makes a final push to the league title.

“Congratulations to Wanga and Wahome. This will be a great motivating factor, not only to the two, but to the rest of the side as they make the final push for the title.”

Head Coach Paul Nkata promised that the team was going for nothing short of their 11th league title.

“We are in good form and my team is seeking nothing less than the trophy, the next five games will be like finals for us and I am confident that we will go all the way and win the title.”

Tusker FC will play Bandari FC, Nairobi City Stars, Sony Sugar, AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia in their remaining league fixtures. In the 25 league matches played so far, the brewers have won 13, drawing nine and losing three.

The team uses a series of metrics to settle on its Player of the Month – assessed weekly for every game – which are then combined to pick the best player.
