The alleged owner of Weston Hotel has said Deputy President William Ruto has been a close friend since the 1992 Youth for Kanu campaign.
Patrick Osero, named sole owner by the hotel’s lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi, said Ruto only visits the hotel as a friend and customer.
“We met during YK’92 and he has been my very good friend and business partner since then,” Osero said in a article published by a local daily on Thursday.
Osero termed Ruto a close associate with no interests in the establishment.
He said being the chairman of the Agricultural Finance Corporation further makes Ruto his boss.
He added that Ruto’s daughter, Shaleen, has an office in the hotel and frequents its gym.
Osero guaranteed a surety of KES 6 million for Ruto in a land case in 2003.
The Deputy President was initially alleged to own Weston Hotel which is implicated in the grabbing of a two-acre Langa'ta Road Primary School playground.
The hotel has since dissociated itself from the saga.
