Even in death, Angela Chibalonza continues to make money! When the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) declared its fourth and final distribution for this year recently, the late gospel singer emerged as the highest earning artiste.
The distribution for the period between July and October 2014 in the Performances in Public Places (PPP) class also saw another iconic gospel singer, Esther Wahome, ranked among the top 10 highest earners. Wahome is this year celebrating her 21 years in music with a new album, her 11th so far.
Gloria Muliro, Jaguar, Sauti Sol, P Unit, Sarah K, Nameless, Ben Mbatha and Dominic Muasya completed the top 10 log.
It’s the first time in the society’s history that the top 10 highest earners list has been dominated by gospel artistes, with seven gospel singers making it to the list. To cap the win, the top two positions also went to gospel artistes.
