AUDIO: Gambler Calls Sportpesa To Borrow Money After Bet Flops

A man circles the name of a team that is supposed to win him a tidy sum on Sportpesa. |

Football betting craze has taken over the country and as some smile all the way to the bank after winning a tidy sum, some have been left counting losses.

Stories abound about people who were just a goal or one match short of being millionaires among those who lose bets before they go back to the drawing board to make another attempt at smashing the bookies.

"Ni game mmoja tu iliniangusha kwa hiyo multibet lakini next time wataniona," they always say when consoling themselves.

Despite the many interesting and sad stories about how some lost their money to shrewd bookies, you have to admire the courage of some when it comes to throwing caution to the wind in as far as the saying "Do not count your chicks before they hatch" is concerned.

These are people who have perhaps never listened to Kenny Rogers' hit The Gambler.

You never count your money

When you're sittin' at the table

There'll be time enough for counting

When the dealin's done

Kenny Rogers sings the song as he advices gambler against counting their chicks before they hatch.

A gambler recently learnt that lesson the hard way after he ordered for expensive food at a hotel with the hope of settling the bill with money he was sure to win in a bet.

However, it was not to be as one team, the last to play in his fold, let him down and he was left with a huge bill to pay.

With nowhere to go, the man decided to call Sportpesa, the betting company in which he had staked his money in, and borrow some money to help him clear the bill.

In an audio clip doing rounds on social media, the man could be heard telling a Sportpesa customer care agent that he will repay the loan with money he will win in a subsequent bet.

Too bad for him though, Sportpesa is not a bank or SACCO and the man was forced to find other means to settle the bill.

If you are risk averse as this man and love throwing caution to the wind. Listen to the clip below of his conversation with the Sportpesa customer care agent, hopefully it will sober you up.
