A man was admitted to hospital after being attacked by a crocodile while taking a shower at the shores of Lake Baringo.
Joseph Arekwen, 45, said he was alone when the reptile struck him on the leg at around 8am on Saturday. He wrestled it.
He told the Star at Baringo county referral hospital: "I thank God I am alive, otherwise I should be dead by now."
"All of a sudden, I felt a sharp grasp on my right leg. The crocodile tried to pull me into the water," Arekwen said.
The fight lasted about ten minutes before the man freed himself from the jaws of the hungry beast.
"I almost surrendered when I saw the water surrounding me turning red with blood. It was such a painful battle."
"My leg was already locked in the sharp-flattened jaws of the merciless crocodile," Arekwen said.
"I hit the crocodile's head with a stone. It slipped back into the lake. I pushed myself out in pain."
Arekwen said he screamed until some people came and rushed him to hospital.
Stephen Kalya, the hospital's administrator, said the man suffered deep cuts and bruises on his leg.
He said x-ray results showed the leg was not fractured adding that the patient will be nursed at the facility until he recovers.
Dickson Tanui, a KWS official, said they will follow up the case.
A student was killed by a crocodile in the same spot in 2014.
