The Kenya Rugby Union has appointed Impala Saracens' Innocent Simiyu as the Kenya Sevens head coach. The announcement was to be done last week on Thursday but the Kenya Rugby Union postponed the highly anticipated news.
The technical bench which led the Kenya Sevens to the first ever cup win in Singapore Sevens during the 2015/2016 HSBC World Rugby Sevens series, saw their contracts expire after the end of September. The technical bench comprised of Benjamin Ayimba, Paul Murunga was the assistant coach, Newton Ong'alo was the team manager, Lameck Bogonko was the physiotherapist while Geoffrey Kimani was the strength and conditioning coach.
