Businesswoman Joyce Akinyi did not take plea on Monday in her latest drug trafficking case as police asked for one more day to conclude their investigations claiming that the drugs were still being weighed and analysed.

Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi remanded Akinyi for one more day but granted her KES 500,000 bond and surety adding that further detention was “unwarranted”.

Akinyi appeared in court last week following her arrest by the Anti-Narcotics Police on Wednesday night that week after they found her with substances alleged to be narcotic drugs at Deep West Restaurant.

She was remanded when the prosecution told the court that it had taken the drugs to the government chemist for analysis.

Akinyi was once married to a suspected Nigerian drug dealer, Anthony Chinedu, who was deported on the President’s directive.
