CECAFA: Defending Champions Uganda Cranes Hammer South Sudan 5-1 To Top Pool 'B'

Uganda Cranes hammered South Sudan 5-1 in the only CECAFA match payed yesterday at the Bukhungu stadium.

The defending champions ran riot taking a 3-1 lead at half time, before adding two in the second half. The result saw Cranes move top of pool B with 4 points same as Burundi with a better goal difference.

Uganda need only a draw against Ethiopia in their last match on Monday, to sail to the semi finals.

Meanwhile, IAAF Director of Communications Jackie Doyle says Kenya is better placed to host the 2025 World Championships compared to other African countries.

Doyle who is in Nairobi says the success of the World Under18 Championships held in Nairobi and the World Cross Country Championships held in Mombasa was a clear manifestation that Kenya is ready to host another major event.

The Mombasa World Cross Country Championship registered a record turnout of 40,000 people while the World Under-18 Championship saw over 60,000 fans at the Kasarani Stadium.

Other countries interested in hosting the event are South Africa, Nigeria and Morocco.
