Champions Chelsea failed to close the gap on the top two in the English premier league, following a 1-0 loss to West Ham yesterday.

This was the first victory for the hammers under David Moyes in five matches. Meanwhile, Harry Kane grabbed a brace, as Tottenham hammered Stoke 5-1, to return to winning ways and climb above Arsenal into fifth.

Other matches saw Leicester rally from behind to beat Newcastle 3-2, courtesy of a late Ayoze Perez's own goal, while Christian Benteke missed an injury time penalty as Crystal Palace's drew 2-2 with Bournemouth to drop to bottom, after Swansea beat West brom 1-0.

Meanwhile, Harambee Stars were held to a barren draw by Zanzibar in the ongoing Cecafa tournament in Machakos yesterday. The result saw Zanzibar heroes retain top spot in pool A with seven points, and also become the first side qualify for the semi finals.

Kenya are second with five points and must beat Tanzania on Monday to make it to the last four. Meanwhile, Rwanda beat Tanzania 2-1.
