Deputy President William Ruto has been urged to intervene in a row at the University of Eldoret.

Some leaders from Uasin Gishu county are demanding the removal of vice chancellor Prof Teresia Akenga.

Last Thursday, Senator Isaac Melly led students and residents in a protest against Akenga.

They accused her of nepotism.

MCAs Peter Chomba (Huruma) and Francis Muya (Langas) said the protesters want Akenga removed because she is from a different tribe.

“We are asking the DP to put order in his area. He has been visiting other parts of the country where including Western where he usually gets good reception as a national leader. Let him not allow what is happening in this county,” said Muya.
