The head teacher was absent at the time forcing a teacher Victor Nakomer to explain the situation on his behalf.
Nakomer confirmed to the angry parents that indeed there is no more water in the school.
"As you can see with me in this jug is the last drop of water I just fetched from the school ken tank...the taps are now tried up completely, so we are left with no other option than to close the school indefinitely probably from Monday," said Nakomer, adding that the last rains occurred in May last year.
He said they might be forced to close the school indefinitely as from Monday next week due to acute water crisis.
Once closed down, the fate of some 129 pupils in the school including 84 nursery school kids will be unknown.
Apart from water shortage, he also noted the school battles with hunger situation due to lack of foodstuff as the government is yet to roll out the school feeding program this year.
The school has only three teachers including an ECD teacher after their colleagues fled due to harsh climatic conditions and insecurity.
The agitated parents led by Hosea Kipkukat, therefore supported the teacher's idea to have the school shut down and pupils sent home immediately.
"If nothing is done to address the matter then it is high time the school should to be closed down immediately because our children's lives are at stake" said Kipkukat.
Riongo primary is among 11 schools facing imminent closures in Silale Ward, Tiaty Sub-county as parents plan to storm next week due to lack of water.
A neighbouring Naudo primary school was closed indefinitely on Monday owing to similar challenge.
Other affected schools are Orision, Nasorot, Akule, Toplen, Silale, Napeikore, Nalekat, Napukut, Kitailem, Cheptamas, Kangoria, Nakoko, Cheptunoyo and Chemukutan.
