Drama As Two Men Including A KDF Officer Fight Over A Mother Of Three In Gilgil

Residents of Gilgil town were treated to a rare drama after two men who included a KDF officer went for each other over a mother of three with each claiming that she was their wife.

Trouble started after the KDF officer ‘stole’ the 23 year old woman from Webuye to Gilgil town where he is based in one of the barracks.

The man claimed that he married the woman a couple of years back before the marriage ended prematurely and a 52-year-old farmer took over.

“Though she has been living with another man, we have been cohabiting for over nine years and today I have decided to bring her to my house officially,” he said.

The farmer on his part stood his ground saying that the three minors were his and he was ready for a DNA test if needed.

The emotional farmer told how he stood by the young wife since she was dumped by the KDF officer adding that he was ready to defend the marriage.

“This young man abandoned this lady nine years ago and I have been taking care of her until now when he wants to come back and destroy our marriage,” he said.

According to the Gender and women empowerment officer in Gilgil Andrew Maina, they had been forced to intervene as there were children involved.

Maina said that the situation had been worsened by the woman who preferred the KDF officer to the farmer claiming that he was too old for her.

“The KDF officer claims that the first born is his while the farmer alleges that he has sired all the children further complicating the situation,” he said.

The government officer said that the matter had been referred to the children office in Webuye where the families resided.
