An Egerton University student who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend died of multiple stabbed injuries, a court was told on Friday.

According to a pathologist, Cynthia Chelegat died due to excessive internal bleeding caused by wounds from a sharp object.

“The body of the deceased had deep wounds at the head, neck and leg as a result of her killer using sharp object to stab her,” Dr. Titus Ngulungu said.

The boyfriend allegedly stabbed her then attempted to commit suicide on February 19 at Nyokerio estate, Njoro.

They were found unconscious and taken to Nakuru Level Five Hospital where the girl was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspect, only identified as Ruto, received first aid treatment and was later arrested by police.

He is a 3rd year student of Economics and Statistics while the deceased was a 4th year Animal Science student.

Justice Joel Ngugi granted Ruto a surety bond of Ksh.300,000 and slated the case for further hearing on July 20.
