Former FKF boss Sam Nyamweya has been suspended from all activities related to football in the country for the next 10 years.

This follows allegations that he illegally withdrew Sh2.5 million from the Football Kenya Federation's account.

Robert Muthomi, FKF CEO and Secretary General, said the verdict was reached by the national executive committee following a March 21, 2016, meeting.

Muthomi said the suspension was in line with Article 14 (1) and Article 34 (m) of the FKF constitution.

According to FKF, Nyamweya lodged the case against it in an ordinary court in contradiction to FIFA, CAF and FKF statutes.

"Your petition filed in the High Court seeks to stop the federation from carrying out its mandate in the management and promotion of football in the country."

"This decision by the national executive committee will be presented to the General Meeting of FKF for adoption," Muthomi said.

According to the letter to the former KFF President, the latter violated article 13(f) of the FKF constitution.

The money in question, Muthomi said, was meant for the FKF Aberdares branch.

In his response, Nyamweya said he will file a contempt of court suit against the football body for character assassination and damages.

He laughed off claims of withdrawing the said Sh2.5 million, saying he never did so as the same has a natural course of action to be followed.

"It is, therefore, misguided for FKF to purport to suspend an individual who is not on their roll of members," Nyamweya said.

The former FKF boss handed over to Nick Mwendwa after withdrawing from the elections in February 2016.

"The decision to suspend me is premeditated because the matter is in reference to a case filed in 2017."

"It is pretentious and sub-judicial of FKF to now turn around and hide in the provisions of their own constitution over a matter substantively before the judiciary," Nyamweya said.
