In an incident that once again clearly highlights the alarming high level of crime in South Africa's largest city, Johannesburg, kickoff.com reports that Bafana Bafana's all-time highest goalscorer Benni McCarthy was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight as he waited to have a haircut at his favourite barbershop.

According to kickoff, the incident happened at around 13ooh, just two hours after the former Porto and Blackburn player landed at the Oliver Tambo International Airport, when three armed men entered the barbershop he was in and demanded for his valuables.

“Three armed men walked into J's Classic Barbershop, one stood at the door to hold guard, another kept the in-store customers under control while one walked straight up to Benni and requested his watch, earrings and his wedding ring,” a witness revealed to kickoff.

The witness further added that the criminals did not bother any of the other customers and went specifically after Benni as if they had been monitoring his movements.

After taking what they wanted, the thugs got into a black tinted car and drove off.
