President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed IG Joseph Boinnet to speed up investigations into the death of a human rights lawyer, his client and taxi driver.

In a condolence message delivered by Kinangop MP Stephen Kinyanjui during the burial of Joseph Muiruri on Saturday at Rwanyambo village, Uhuru said the IG must ensure the killers are brought to book.

Meanwhile, American lawyers have asked the government to protect all victims of police misconduct.

The lawyers under the umbrella of American Bar Association said they were concerned with the disappearance and deaths of Kenyan lawyer Willie Kimani, his client and taxi driver. The association's President Paulette Brown says the State’s failure to protect Kimani as he engaged in the practice of law, weakens the rule of law and undermines the values of any society committed to respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
