Football Kenya federation on Monday announced that they had relegated Thika United, Muhoroni Youth and 2009 champions Sopaka from the Kenyan premier league to the National Super League division, after failing to comply with FIFA Club licensing requirements.

Making the announcements on their official Twitter feed, FKF announced that following the stern decision it means that 2017's top tier division will consist 15 clubs that have met the club licensing threshold.

Even after being a two week grace period following the process deadline, the three did not present their financial statements for 2016, leading to them being knocked out of Kenya’s top tier league as reports.

National Super League sidesNakumatt FC, Nzoia Sugar, Kariobangi Sharks and Zoo Kericho have meanwhile been confirmed into the KPL.
