Four cashiers at City Hall and a manager of a matatu Sacco have arrested after they tried to defraud the county of Sh2.5 million.
The five spent their night in police custody after the arrest last evening. Police say they are expected in court to face charges of conspiracy to defraud the county of the cash.
According to police, the suspects used fake documents to obtain the money. The cashiers had pocketed the money to issue the Sacco seasonal parking tickets for 20 vehicles.
The county looes millions of shillings monthly through fraud. A special team is investigating the cases of fraud at city hall. This the second group at the county to be arrested by the team in three months.
