This ‘crazy’ woman was set by cartels to tarnish leaders’ names, Governor Stanley Kiptis lashes on Baringo lady scheming to meet Deputy President William Ruto.
Kiptis expressed his displeasure over the weird means the 30-year old Michelle Jepkoech uses in soliciting money from people. She is the woman who disrupted DP Ruto’s speech during his visit at Eldama-Ravine town on May 19.
“I had just given her sh3,000 to go and feed her children on Tuesday morning, then I was surprised she went ahead to address the media telling them that I chased her away like a ‘dog’” Kiptis told the media in his office on Wednesday.
Kiptis further claims he handed the woman sh6, 000 to go and settle the accumulated house rent in Eldama-Ravine town as she claimed.
“I knew this woman as a homeless beggar in Eldama-Ravine and I even used to assist her before I was elected Governor” Said Kiptis adding that there were thousands of poor people out there seeking for help.
The Governor further said the woman rejected his sh5, 000 during Ruto’s visit claiming I always assist her, “so today I am seeking help from DP Ruto” said Michelle.
She claimed she went to Kiptis residents on Monday around 10pm and the governor ordered her away with her two kids.
“We feared for our lives in that dark night with my two kids, but going out on the way I met a woman who assisted us to her house” She said.
Governor Kiptis however feared the woman might have been used by cartels to tarnish the character of leaders. He also denied claims he was instructed to accompany her to the DP Ruto office in Nairobi.
The woman wants to see Ruto to purchase for her a parcel of land so she can construct house to raise her five children whom she said their father died.
“If this is how this woman behaves then I wonder if her dreams to the Deputy President will even succeed” he said
