Harambee Stars Fall Nine Places iIn Latest Fifa Rankings

Kenya have slumped nine places from position 102 to 111 in the latest Fifa rankings released yesterday.

Stars failed to play any international friendly this month and have set their sights on reclaiming the Cecafa Senior Challenge crown next month on home soil.

Kenya are placed 25th on the continent. Tunisia are the top ranked African side at position 28 with North African rivals Egypt second on the continent and 30th globally.

Senegal are placed third while DR Congo are fourth with Nigeria closing the top five places.

Cameroon are sixth with World Cup-bound Morocco seventh. Ghana, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast round off the top 10 African Nations.

World champions Germany top the rankings with former holders Brazil second and European champions Portugal third. Argentina fourth and Belgium fifth.

Spain, Poland, Switzerland, France and Chile follow in that order. Elsewhere, Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Bandari head coach Paul Nkata has revealed that he will sign four strikers in the January transfer window.

The 2015 GOtv champions had a woeful run in the 2017 KPL season, finishing 10th on the log with 43 points.

Nkata acknowledges the team’s performance was below par and is particularly concerned with bolstering his attack, which he admitted was defective despite having signed household names such as Jacob Keli, Edwin Lavatsa and Enock Agwanda last season.

Attack is our major area of concern and we are going to sign four strikers; two center-forwards and two wingers. I think we are okay in other areas,” he said.
