Football is one of the most supported sports in the country. Kenya has produced great stars such as Tottenham Hotspur's Victor Wanyama, Arnold Origi, McDonald Mariga, Michael Olunga and Dennis Oliech amongst others but not many make it to their level.

Some end up being alcoholics, others join criminal groups whereby they are arrested and end up in jail while many just hang their boots before their retirement age due to frustrations and lack of motivation.

Well, popular cameraman and blogger Francis Ngira is about to bring smiles to the faces of Kenyan footballers. Born and brought up in the informal settlements of Korogocho, Ngira is known to be passionate about education and reminding the younger generation that we have a responsibility to make our country great again.

The man behind the lens, who is a household name in the Kenyan football industry has decided to make a change or rather to be a role model to the young generation.

Ngira, who was once a drunkard, quit alcohol exactly a year ago and today he will be celebrating the milestone by launching/starting a book fund for kids living in slums dubbed “Sober For Books”. Speaking to Mpasho, exclusively revealed to us that he has been looking forward to this day and hopes that his campaign will change the lives of many – especially footballers who are alcoholics.

"I HAVE HOPED OF SEEING THIS "SOBER FOR BOOKS" CAMPAIGN MUTATE INTO A BIGGER CAMPAIGN TO SENSITIZE THE YOUNGER GENERATION, CURRENTLY DROWNING IN ALCOHOL THAT WE HAVE A COUNTRY TO INHERIT AND MAKE GREAT AGAIN!" SAID NGIRA.

The 'Sober For Books' campaign has seen many footballers – the likes of Michael Olunga, Jesse Were, Akumu Anthony, Allan Wanga, David Owino, Godfrey Kokoyo,  Victor Wanyama and Anthony Kimani, among others support Ngira – a man who might just be the city’s only sober sports cameraman. Ngira's project is set to work closely with footballers who are silently struggling with alcoholism.
