Victor Wanyama has claimed the Goal of the Month for February for his sensational long distance strike against Liverpool.

The Kenyan's goal drew level at 1-1 with 10 minutes remaining at Anfield and sparked a frantic finale, which included a missed penalty and two goals before the spoils were shared at 2-2.

He came out on top of an eight-man shortlist that also included Danilo, Mario Lemina, Jose Izquierdo (twice), Mohamed Salah, Sergio Aguero and Adam Smith.

Wanyama, whose goal will be a strong contender for Goal of the Season as well, admits the strike was one of the best he has ever scored and says the decision to shoot from a speculative distance was purely instinctive.

'That was one of the best goals I've ever scored,' he said. 'I just reacted before the Liverpool players.

'I thought I'd just let it go because the ball was bouncing and I didn't want to think too much. And I just let it fly.'

Wanyama's equaliser was followed by one of the maddest 10 minutes in Premier League history. Harry Kane missed a penalty before Salah, who had scored the opening goal, put Liverpool 2-1 ahead in the 91st minute.

However, Tottenham would earn a vital point with the final kick of the game after Kane was given a second chance to convert from the spot when Virgil van Dijk fouled Erik Lamela.

Brighton and Hove manager Chris Hughton won Manager of the Month for February after his team collected seven points from three games, strengthening their chances of avoiding relegation in the process.

They are now seven points clear of the bottom three and sit in 10th place.
