'I hope I'll Visit Him One Day,' Mulee Discusses His Relationship With Liberian President, George Weah

We caught up with Radio Jambo breakfast presenter, Ghost Mulee to discuss more about his relationship with newly elected Liberian president, George Weah.

The football icon who became the first and the only African footballer to win the FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d’Or winner in 1995, took over from President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

In May 2017, Mulee was pictured with the man who brought glory not only to Liberia but also to the entire continent in Paris, France, after the two alongside other football legendary names held ‘Successful meetings’, according to the breakfast presenter.

Mulee discussed in broad about his relationship with the African icon, how he came to meet him and whether he plans to meet him in Liberia in the near future.

Below is a transcript from our interview.

First of all George Weah is your personally friend how did you feel when he was elected as Liberia's president?

I was happy for him, I was happy for his patience and his discipline, because the first time he ran for presidency people punched holes on his education career claiming that he did not have a degree.

He went to the USA to get a degree and look at that kind of patience and after achieving everything in football you become the CEO of a country. That is very very big.

In fact I was planning to attend the inauguration ceremony which was supposed to be on the 15th (January) then they changed it to the 22nd which messed my diary also.

All I can say is he is an inspiration to many sports personalities because it shows you cannot only do sports, but you can also come into politics at one point.

Well I did not talk to Weah personally when he got elected we were with him in France. We had a meeting, we talked a lot about football a little bit of politics in fact he was very calm in Paris you wouldn't know that this guy was going to run for presidency. So it was a very easy moment.

Will he be calling the legend soon or pay him a visit?

To call George Weah right now I think as the head of state I think numbers change so it becomes difficult to get his contacts. He has so much on his in tray and it becomes difficult to reach him.
