Innocent Simiyu Set To Name 20-Man Kenya 7s Squad Ahead Of Safland Sevens

The Kenya Sevens Rugby team head coach innocent Simiyu will today reduce his squad to twenty players. Last week Simiyu named a twenty five man provisional squad from thirty eight who had been selected.

The twenty players who will remain in the camp are set to receive their contracts by the end of the week. The new contracts will run until August next month. Simiyu’s first outing will be next week when they travel to Namibia for the Safland Sevens.

Kenya will be using the tournament to prepare for the Dubai and Cape Town Sevens.

The technical bench which led the Kenya Sevens to the first ever cup win in Singapore Sevens during the 2015/2016 HSBC World Rugby Sevens series, saw their contracts expire after the end of September.

The technical bench comprised of Benjamin Ayimba, Paul Murunga was the assistant coach, Newton Ong’alo was the team manager, Lameck Bogonko was the physiotherapist while Geoffrey Kimani was the strength and conditioning coach.
