Kalembe Ndile rushed to hospital after dawn accident

Former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile is recuperating at a hospital in Athi River after being involved in a dawn accident on Saturday.

Police said the former legislator was involved in a head on collision at Devki area on Nairobi-Mombasa highway at around 3:00am.

Police records at the Athi River traffic base said the politician sustained a fracture on his right leg and left hand.

He was rushed to Shalom Community hospital where medics said his condition was fair.

The accident involved a Subaru Forester driven by the former MP and a trailer that was headed to Nairobi.

The report said Kalembe failed to keep to his lane causing the head on collision.

"On reaching at the location of the accident, the driver failed to keep to his lane and collided head on with the trailer which was heading in the opposite direction."

The police did not give details on the condition of the occupants of the trailer.

The accident follows in the wake of another at which left 11 dead and scores injured on Wednesday.
