If you are planning to keep up with #throwbackthursday today would, perhaps, not be a good day to bring back memories of when our beloved nation was ranked 68th in the FIFA rankings.

The effects of last month's defeat to Zambia at the Nyayo National Stadium in an AFCON 2017 qualifier are being felt again as Kenya has dropped 15 places in the latest FIFA rankings.

Kenya had retained its August position, 116th, when last month's rankings were released but its latest position, 131, is Kenya's worst since July 2007 when Harambee Stars was ranked 137th.

In the CAF region, Kenya has dropped 5 places to 40, just two above neighbors Tanzania who are ranked 136th in the world.

Uganda, who have been doing well recently, are ranked an impressive 18th in Africa and 75th in the world.

Kenya's next two international matches are against Mauritius in a 2018 FIFA World qualifier and wins in those matches could see Harambee Stars' position improve before the next round of qualifiers in November.

Mauritius are ranked 47th in Africa and 168th worldwide. Should Kenya get past them, they will come up against Cape Verde who are ranked 6th in Africa and 41st in the world.
