Kenya sevens team ready to bounce back after Hong Kong heartbreak

Kenya sevens had another weekend to forget at the just concluded Hong Kong sevens series after losing at the main cup finals to Fiji despite putting a spirited fight to get there.

The Shujaa team stormed into the quarters after beating Canada and Spain 33-10 and 26-0 respectively before losing 26-28 to Australia.

In quarters Kenya beat Scotland 19-12 to book a  semi finals date with heavyweights New Zealand whom were humbled 21-12.

Unfortunately, their Hong Kong dream was cut short after Fiji beat Shujaa 24-12 in the finals. Kemya were forced to play with just five players after Williy Ambaka and Collins Injera were shown the yellow card even before the half time break.

Moments after the tense match, Collins injera took to social media and wrote;

Gritty performance this weekend from the @KenyaSevens boys, congratulations to @fijirugby for the win. We take the lessons and move forward. Hong Kong you have been good to us. Next up Commonwealth games. Thank you for the support.

The team is fortunately not discouraged because they have shown readiness for the upcoming Common Wealth games which will be held in Australia at Gold coast, Queensland.

At the common wealth, the team will square it out with New Zealand, Canada and Zambia.

They pose in basket ball Jerseys, a sign that they are prepared.

We wish the boys all the very best!
