Akombe was said to have been in Dubai inspecting the printing of ballot papers, and wasn't happy with the process. In her latter, she has indicated why she feels there can't be free and fair elections, and exposes the fact that workers at the electoral agency are under constant threat, including those being trained to conduct the election expected to happen on Thursday next week.
Part of her statement read; 'Sometimes you walk away especially when potential lives are at stake.The commission has become a party to the current crisis. The commission is under siege'.
She continues,' I have questioned my role as a commissioner at the IEBC,. But I have soldiered on hoping that we could collectively find a way of addressing the crisis our country faces today. I have agonized over my decision to leave my committed staff and my country'.
