The death of a loved one is one of the saddest things anyone can go through, and the pain never goes away no matter how long it takes.

BBC news anchor Sophie Ikenye is mourning the passing of her beloved father. The former NTV news anchor revealed the sad news but didn't give details on what led to the death of her dad.

Sophie Ikenye is one of the renowned media personalities in Kenya, having worked in the industry for more than a decade before she moved to London after landing a job as a presenter/producer with BBC World News Focus On Africa.

A broken-hearted Sophie shared the sad news, revealing why she chose to share such personal information on social media, adding it was meant to honor her late father.

In the post, Sophie appreciates how her father taught her to be strong and an honest woman in life no matter the situation, at the same time thanking those who has shown support and prayed for her and the family;

I don't post much about my family but I'd like you to know that my dad rests in peace now . He has fulfilled the purpose for which he was created. He taught us many things, one of which is to be strong and the other to be honest in this life. Till we meet again. Thank you for your prayers over my family.

Sophie Ikenye was named by African Awards in 2016 as among 100 Most Influential Young Africans.

We send our condolences to Sophie Ikenye and the family as they go through this tough time of losing a loved one. May he rest in peace.
