The mother of five had deep wounds on her head and hands inflicted by a sharp object before police moved in and collected the body.
A witness John Mureithi said that the couple had been cohabiting for the last two years but had always quarreled over the man’s drinking habits.
Mureithi said that the duo left for the forest to collect firewood but hours later they failed to return raising concern among area residents.
“This is a small village and we got concerned after the two failed to turn up and on visiting the forest we found the bloody body hidden under some bushes,” he said.
A senior police officer confirmed the incident adding that they were looking for the husband to record a statement over the beastly murder.
“Some people claim to have seen the man boarding a matatu in the area hours before the body was found and we have launched a manhunt for him,” said the officer.
