Malkia Strikers failed to defend their African title after losing 3-0  to hosts Cameroon in sets of 25-22, 25-19, 29-27, as the women's Volleyball Africa Nations Championship ended yesterday in Yaunde.

Kenya's first loss in the tournament saw coach Japheth Munala fail to get his maiden continental title.

Meanwhile Egypt beat Senegal 3-0 in sets of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-23 to clinch bronze in the third place play off. Kenya and Cameroon will represent Africa in the Japan 2018 world championships.
