The mother to former Kenyan international players Dennis Oliech, Ken Oliech, the late Steven Okumu and Andrew Oyombe died on 20th July, 2018 following a brave battle with Cancer.
The burial announcement comes just days following speculations that the family was divided on when Mama Oliech was to be laid to rest, with one faction seeking to bury her on the 11th of August while the other on the 18th, a week later.
Following the deeply saddening demise of our dear Mother Mrs. Mary Auma Oliech ‘Mama Oliech’ on 20/7/2018 following a brave battle with Cancer,we as the Oliech family would like to thank every one of you for your continued support during these tough times. After long deliberations and soul searching we the Oliech family have resolved to bury our beloved Mum Mary on August 18th .
We regret any confusion that has been portrayed and any inconvinience caused. The press release read in part.
The family went on to thank the people who have been standing with them through these tough times, as they plan to give mama a heroic send off
Thank you for the contributions and any roles you have all played and continue to play in order for us to be able to give our mum the heroic send off that she deserves. Family and friends continue to meet daily at her residence at Lavington Riara. The Cortege leaves at night to arrive early afternoon on 17 th August, 2018 at Seme Ratta.
