The wife is said to have refused to cook ugali for the 45-years old man, who hails from Emukaba village, Butsotso East in Indangalasia sub-location.
The man swallowed a poisonous substance after the neighbors discovered the the lifeless body of his wife he wrapped with a blanket and hid inside his house, in attempts to conceal the heinous act.
The man was rushed to the Kakamega Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.
Neighbors say they heard commotion in the man's house in the night and sought to find out what happened in the morning.
The couple are said to have had domestic feuds and the incident appears to have been an escalation that had been building up over time.
The heartless man is said to have washed the body of the wife and hid it, then left for a thrilling bullfighting match in the village.
Neighbors say the body of the woman had several stab wounds.
The man dropped unconscious after taking the unidentified substance, forcing the neighbors to call the police.
Kakamega Central ODCP Joseph Chebii confirmed the incident.
“The suspect attempted to kill himself by swallowing some substance suspected to be poisonous and is now being attempted to at the hospital," the OCPD said.
"The suspect will be charged with murder after his condition had improves," Chebii said.
