Man Surrenders To Police, Claims He Was Among Those Who Killed Two Officers In Kiambu

A man has walked to Ngong police station and claimed he was among gunmen who shot dead two police officers in Kibichoi, Kiambu last week and robbed them of their gun.

The man was taken into custody for grilling into the claims even as the hunt on the killers of constables Martin Irungu and Paul Maina of Kibichoi police post go on.

Police say the man has since named a number of suspects into the said murder incident that happened last Friday.

The two policemen were Friday afternoon shot dead by unknown gunmen while on patrol at Miti Kenda area in Kibichoi, Kiambu County. The gunmen, according to witnesses were not in hurry and seemed to be experts.

They pumped four bullets to each of the officers before they jumped on awaiting motorcycles and rode off.  The attackers snatched an AK47 rifle from one of the officers and sped off.

Meanwhile, police are investigating an incident in which a police officer was found dead in a trench in Land Mawe area, Nairobi.

The body of corporal Wesley Mutai was found in a trench with a bullet wound in the head. The bullet had been shot from the throat and exited the skull. It is not clear if he committed suicide or he was killed.

The body was moved to the mortuary as investigations go on. Police say his pistol was found next to his body and had four bullets less the number he had been issued.
