Man Utd star Luke Shaw donates Sh1.9million to family of reveller found dead

star Luke Shaw has donated £15,000  (sh1.9Million) to the family of a reveller found dead in a river, as a fundraising appeal for the 22-year-old's family soars past £50,000.

The footballer had previously appealed for information on social media and had urged people to come forward with any information they had on the case.

Last night hundreds of mourners gathered in the home Luke Jobson, and sung Robbie Williams' Angels, to pay tribute to Luke.

Luke's body was found in the River Tees on Monday after he was reportedly seen running from a group of people in Yarm, North Yorkshire in the early hours of Saturday.

This is while Geordie Shore star Sam Gowland posted a heartfelt tribute to his 'best mate' , saying that his tragic death 'didn't seem real'.

On Instagram he said: "Genuinely can’t get my head round this and Can’t believe I am having to write this in memory of one of my best mates Luke , one of the most genuine nicest lads I’ve ever met who was cruely taking away fromus on Saturday morning !! Not gunna be the same without u brother."

Crowds lined the streets of Yarm last night as hundreds of people gathered at the riverside to pay their respects, as donations to the GoFundMe page surpassed it's £2,000 goal.

A social media post written by his family invited people from across the region to come to Yarm's riverside and pay tribute. At about 7pm last night, members of the public gathered alongside Luke's family, who hosted the tribute as a celebration of his life.

At the riverside, pieces of red ribbon and red balloons, with personal messages were left in tribute and more than 200 individual pieces of ribbon had been tied to the railings of Yarm Wharf, whilst hundreds more were tied to railings and lampposts near Sainsbury's car park, as space by the riverside dwindled.

A floral tribute, decorated with candles and pictures of Mr Jobson, had been carefully put together for the evening.

At the tribute, Kelly Jane Jobson, Luke's aunt, who helped organise an unofficial search for her nephew on Monday, addressed the crowd.

'Thanks every single one of you, who  stood here, watching, listening, who has taken time off work, that's been out in the cold at 2am and 3am in the morning, traipsing through freezing cold fields in the ice, mud, up to our knees.'

She added: 'I want to thank every single person for doing that, whenever I've put a post up and said where to go, you've gone there - and this is why I've kept so strong.

'How can I say more than 'thank you' - I can't, it's overwhelming that you can feel this much love.'

Other family members were gathered around the floral tribute whilst they comforted each other.

As the crowd got larger, an organiser announced they were to have a sing-a-long of Angels by Robbie Williams.

Close to 1,000 people attended the vigil and the family spoke of their appreciation for the public's help in the days following Luke's disappearance.

She said: 'It's an incredible turn out, it really goes to show how much of a loved person he was', she said.

'I thought it was important to pay my respects, it's a close knit community here so it's something that impacts everyone.'

Luke's parents also paid an emotional tribute to their son, who they described as a 'driven young lad'.

His heartbroken mother Lisa Jobson, 46, a nursery nurse, said: 'Me and his dad are so proud we made somebody like him.

'I couldn't have asked for a better son, we're proud of everything he's done and everything he is.

'We want to celebrate him. We just want to say a massive thanks to everybody and we want everybody to remember him for the good.

Mrs Jobson said Luke always thought of others and their feelings and described him as a very loving.

'He was a mummy's boy, a bit more open with me. He used to confide in me and ask me what I thought of things. He would listen to me.

'The whole search showed the love for Luke. I can't thank everybody enough for helping with the search. It took my breath away and really showed how much love there is for him.

'Every area was covered, people were going everywhere to look for him. You don't realise how good people are. The respect I have for these people is just massive. I want to say a massive thank you to all of them.'
