A somber mood engulfed Murang’a University of technology after a third year university committed suicide over a love affair.
The student who was pursuing a degree in software engineering is said to have taken his own life after he was rejected by his girlfriend.
It is said the student committed suicide by consuming poison on Monday night in his room in Murang’a town and did not leave a suicide note.
His friends said that he was distressed on Monday after his girlfriend terminated their relationship.
They said they found him locked inside his room on Tuesday morning.
Murang’a county police commander Naomi Ichami said investigations have been launched into the cause of his death.
She said a post mortem will be conducted to establish the kind of the poison he ingested as his body was moved to Murang’a district mortuary.
