The derby between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia scheduled for this Sunday in Nakuru's Afraha Stadium has been postponed.
AFC Leopards, who were to be the home side, have asked Kenyan Premier League to postpone the match, and it will be played when Nyayo Stadium is available.
It has been unanimously decided that owing to the home team’s confirmation on being unable to provide adequate security, no chance can be taken at hosting the match at Afraha, and therefore as a result. Read KPL's press statement in part.
KPL had scheduled the high risk match for Afraha, stadium Nakuru, this weekend due to the unavailability of Nyayo stadium and Kasarani both which are under renovation, for CHAN and the IAAF U18 world championships, slated for next year.

Following intensive consultations between the KPL Vice-chairman Lt. Col. Erick Oloo, AFC Leopards Chairman Dan Mule, Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier, and the FKF President Nick Mwendwa, after the home team, AFC Leopards, expressed concerns of not being well-positioned to make adequate security arrangements of hosting the match at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, it has been unanimously decided that owing to the home team’s confirmation on being unable to provide adequate security, no chance can be taken at hosting the match at Afraha, and therefore as a result, the match has been postponed until such a time when the Nyayo National Stadium and/or the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani will be available.
