Meet the first transgender male model trainer from Kenya

Letoya Johnstone the first transgender male model trainer in Kenya has fought all odds to be where she is today.

Being in Africa identifying yourself as a member of the LGBTQ community meaning; lesbian gay bisexual transgender and queer is regarded to be a taboo and most people who do identify themselves these ways are usually excommunicated and shunned.

She has trained so many models who have been seen walking on the runway gracefully. She has trained so many models for different shows, and is seen in some shows cat walking on the runway as she has become an icon in the fashion industry showing the world that it doesn't matter who you are or what orientation you are but being yourself and doing what you love is far more important.

She said he is not going to use millions of shillings venturing towards complete transformation into a woman, a process which may not be done by the average person due to its cost. The decision to transform isn't something that you can wake up one day and say that you are going to go through with, instead it requires adequate time to think about not because once you transition you can't go back, no!

But the question comes, are you ready to go through the stigma that comes with it, because being in Africa not many people are open minded about it and not only it but the LGBTQ at large.

She is trying to spread the message of love as seen on the t shirt she wore in the above picture, stating that no need to say or identify yourself as gay, straight, lesbian, transgender, bisexual or queer but instead people should identify themselves as human because at the end of the day we are all human.

Shall Africa one day come to embrace the LGBTQ as India did days ago, this is a question which only time can tell, but with the way so many people are coming out of the closet, sooner or later people will have to accept the reality that queer people do exist and when that happens the action taken will determine so many things that are to come in the future.
