Cops arrest top Mombasa businessman after heroin was found in his car

A prominent businessman in Mombasa County was yesterday arrested by police after been found with 1 kilogram of heroin in his car.

Abdulmajid Timami, was nabbed by DCI sleuths with the narcotics valued Sh 1.5 million.

The drugs were concealed in his new Honda car and wrapped in polythene bags with police believing that he was preparing to deliver to local distributors.

Timami who presents himself as middle class citizen owns a fleet of transit trucks that operate in East Africa and lives within Tudor area.

Police sources say he has been involved in drugs business for close to a decade.

He is currently being held at Central Police Station awaiting court arraignment on Monday.

Mombasa drugs market is said to be controlled by prominent businessmen and politicians.

The port city has been used as a gateway for narcotics and illegal animal trophies and products, according to regulatory agencies.
