EACC Detectives have arrested a Mombasa-based lands official for soliciting a KES 5 000 bribe.

Edward Ndegwa, a Survey Assistant Land Adjudication and Settlement officer was arrested after asking for the bribe from John Mua.

Mua is said to have approached the detectives after Ndegwa declined to release a survey sketch map for plot number 31 B situated in Mkomani, Mombasa, without a bribe.

Regional EACC boss Hassan Khalid said no one will be spared in the fight against graft.

"These are some of the officers who have been encouraging land grabbing and unsolved land cases in the region," Khalid said.

"We are monitoring closely what they do in helping land grabbers in the region. We know them and their days are numbered."
