Musalia Mudavadi accuses Raila Odinga of being behind Miguna's troubles

Musalia Mudavadi has thrown a spanner in the works that is the Miguna Miguna debacle that the country has witnessed this past week. The former Sabakia MP has gone and accused his partner in the NASA coalition of being behind Miguna's problems.

In a statement dispatched to newsrooms on Friday, March 30, and which was seen by Radiojambo.co.ke,  Mudavadi claimed that Raila's handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta on March 9, 2018, at Harambee House was the main reason why Miguna was being mishandled by the government.

The statement read:

“The tribulations befalling Miguna Miguna are self-inflicted and are caused by the ODM leader Raila Odinga."

The ANC boss, who is believed to be the founder of NASA, also clarified Raila had ceased to be the coalition's leader when he decided to boycott the October 26 repeat presidential poll without consulting his co-principals.

According to Mudavadi, the media should stop referring to Raila as NASA leader because he is no longer one but instead should refer to him just as NASA co-principal or NASA principal. Radiojambo.co.ke understands NASA has not been dissolved and therefore still have its four co-principals despite the apparent split between the coalition's affiliate parties.

The NASA co-principals and their party brigades have not been able to reconcile their glaring differences since the infamous January 30 oath-taking exercise at Uhuru Park. Political pundits believe the root of the NASA crisis goes back to the controversial swearing-in event that was snubbed by Kalonzo Musyoka, Wetangula and Mudavadi.

The tension that was already building between the co-principals and their parties escalated when Raila decided to meet Uhuru without consulting his coalition partners. The clash over the Uhuru-Raila surprise meeting at Harambee House significantly contributed to the firing of Wetangula as the Senate Minority Leader. Wetangula and Mudavadi openly declared war against Raila following the move by his ODM party to eject the Bungoma senator from his powerful position in the Senate.
