A survey conducted by Swiss company UBS has revealed that Nairobi is the most expensive city in Africa.
The survey informs that the price of goods and services in Nairobi is above other cities in Africa which are perceived to be expensive to live in such as Cairo, Johannesburg and Luanda.
On top of being the most expensive city in Africa, the survey also ranked Nairobi among the lowest when it came to salaries paid to workers.
Workers in Nairobi are paid less than those in other African cities and perhaps that gives credence to the popular saying among Nairobians, "Nairobi ni shamba la mawe, unalima mgongo ya mwenzako."'
The survey was conducted in 71 cities between March and April this year.
