Police are investigating an incident in which a police officer was found dead in a lodging in Huruma area, Nairobi.

It is not clear what caused the death but police are investigating it. The officers handling the matter say they were informed the officer was dead in the room before they moved there and transferred the body to the mortuary. His weapon was missing at the time the body was moved out.

Meanwhile, a man was last evening electrocuted in the Ngara area, Nairobi following the heavy downpour that was experienced in the area.

The man was walking home amongst huge puddles when he stepped on a live wire. He died on the spot before police were called to pick up the body. Police say many cables are open in various areas and blame illegal power connections for the situation.

Electrocution incidents are common in informal settlement areas amid campaigns to address the situation.
