NAIVASHA: 35-Year-Old Man Commits Suicide Days After Killing His Wife

Residents of a Naivasha village woke up to a rude shock after a man who was on the run for killing his wife committed suicide.

The 35-year-old man had on Friday killed his wife at Kamae village in Kinangop and dumped her body in the forest before fleeing the area.

Police have been looking for him ever since and his body was found hanging on a tree at Mwiciringiri village some 10kms from Naivasha town.

A witness James Kamau said the suspect had run to his parent’s home soon after committing the act to his wife before finally hanging himself.

Kamau said his body was found in the morning by workers in a nearby quarry and this forced them to cut down the tree he hang himself on since it was very tall.

“He chose the tallest tree in the area to commit the act and we had to cut it down so as to get the body,” he said.

Last week, the deceased and his wife went to Kamae forest to fetch some firewood and never returned home and her body was found later on in the day with deep cuts in the head.

A senior officer who did not want to be named confirmed the incidence saying the body had been collected and taken to the Naivasha sub-county Hospital Mortuary.

He confirmed that the body picked this morning was that of the suspect they had been looking for in connection with the murder of the woman last week.

Meanwhile, one person died and several others sustained injuries following a multiple road accident along Mai Mahiu-Narok road.

The accident involving five vehicles, occurred after a driver of a water tanker lost control and hit four vehicles killing one on the spot.

Three more sustained injuries and were rushed to several hospitals and treated for minor injuries and discharged.

A witness James Njoroge said the water tanker was in high speed when the driver lost control and rammed into the other four vehicles.

“One of the passengers in the water tanker died on the spot after he was thrown out and the vehicle rolled over him,” he said.

The officer confirmed the incident saying they were holding the driver of the tanker in connection with the accident while the body had been collected and taken to the mortuary.
