Nanok Mourns The Victims Involved In A Grisly Accident On Marigat Kapedo Road

Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok  has sent his condolences message to families of 18 victims of a grisly accident on Friday midday involving a police truck along the Marigat-Kapedo road.

"I received with shock news of the accident that led to the loss of 18 people and injuries to 14 others. Our prayers and sympathies go to the families of the deceased as they come to terms to those huge tragedy." He said on his Twitter handle.

He said its sad to lose 18 people, most of them being residents of Kapedo and Lomelo in Turkana East sub county, in a road accident along the Marigat-Kapedo road.

The accident occurred about 2 kilometers from Loruk centre, with most of the victims being residents of Kapedo and Lomelo in Turkana East sub county.

According to police the AP truck ferrying soldiers and civilians from Marigat town to Kapedo overturned after an unsuccessful swerve by the driver to avoid hitting goats crossing the road.

Speaking during the celebration family day at Turkana lodwar diocese, Bishop Dominic Kimingich sent his condolences message to the bereaved family.

"Its our time as Christians to come together and offer serious prayers at Turkana East, especially Kapedo region where we experience insecurity issues time after time." he said.
