The Lands Ministry will issue 13,000 land titles to Elgeyo Marakwet residents in areas where oil deposits have been discovered by British firm Tullow Oil Company.

Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu has already approved the issuance of the titles, which are to be proposed for the residents.

“Residents have been waiting for long and we are happy that they will finally get the documents,” said area Governor Alex Tolgos.

He was speaking to the press after he led a delegation to meet Ngilu in Nairobi.
